There may be no honor among cyber thieves. But at least a few of them seem to stick to a set of secret rules to sort out their differences over broken promises, unpaid dues, and ineffective malware.
Researchers from threat intelligence firm Analyst1 recently analyzed the work of several major cybercrime forums and discovered that at least two of them have an informal type of court system where criminals can file complaints and settle disputes with their peers. Analyst1’s research has shown that dozens of cases from across the Dark Web escalate into these courts daily and are waiting for forum management members to resolve disputes.
