Fivetran’s Latest dbt Core Enhancements Help Companies Automate and Accelerate Data-Driven Decisions

Fivetran, a state-of-the-art data integration solutions company, extends dbt Core with integrated tabulation and data ratio graphs.

Fivetran previously announced its support for dbt Core by dbt Labs, one of the most popular open source transformation frameworks in the data analyst community.

These improvements signal a deeper integration of the open source dbt Core on Fivetran and introduce new features to help companies simplify the complexities of the modern data stack, reduce costs through ELT (extract and shift load) automation and speed up data-driven decisions, according to the vendor.

With Fivetran transformations, Fivetran reduces the complexity of transformations by automating the process, ultimately allowing businesses to have faster and more reliable access to the data they need to make data-driven decisions.

By adding integrated scheduling to Fivetran Transformations, users can now schedule their dbt Core models to run automatically after Fivetran connector sync has completed.

This reduces data latency and speeds up the overall ELT pipeline, while also helping customers save money on unnecessary computing costs by running transformations only on new or updated data.

Another way Fivetran speeds up analytics for the dbt community is through pre-built data models. Fivetran data models are SQL scripts packed for common data source connectors and analytics use cases that can be run in dbt to quickly generate new reports without loading data architecture.

Fivetran has released and maintains data models for over 40 data sources, with more being added regularly.

Adding data ratio graphs provides visualization of Fivetran’s core dbt data models, allowing users to better track and manage their data lines from start to finish with enhanced data monitoring tools.

This eliminates the need for data analysts to comb through SQL code to determine relationships between models, and provides a visual representation that data engineers can use to plan the movement of data through the transformation process.

The charts also offer an easy-to-understand format that can be shared with data analysts and other business users across the organization for a more collaborative experience.
