The ability to create connected data sets has become one of the biggest competitive factors in enterprise operations. But with the rapid growth of the API and SaaS app economy, this is easier said than done.
Today’s data teams must find an alternative to the limited choice of third-party connectors or the maintenance burdens of self-hosted solutions.
DBTA held a webinar with Jason Tolu, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Matillion; Corné Human, Director of Product Marketing, Matillion; and Paul Johnson, Director of Product Management, Mathillion, who discussed how to take a different approach to data communication and integration.
Tolo explained that the data is ubiquitous and is more distributed with more sources. According to Domo, “Data doesn’t sleep 6.0,” every human generated 1.7 megabytes of data every second in 2020. This equates to 2.5 quintillion bytes per day.
Speed is essential, Tolo said, and analytics-ready data sets should enter business faster than ever before. Enterprise SaaS is the ultimate distribution engine. The number of SaaS tools on the market tripled in the first five years of the last decade.
Projects take a long time and cost a lot. According to Gartner, “More than 50% of data migration projects are expected to exceed budget and schedule.”
Human said global loading of data from Matillion is the answer. The platform enables SaaS capabilities. Allows enterprise teams to harness all market innovations in specialized software.
The platform can unlock new data products by enabling the capture and enrichment of operational data in analytics data stores for Data-as-a-Service applications.
Johnson noted that the platform can speed up analytics by providing ease of setup and maintenance that helps data engineers focus on higher-value tasks.
